Laptops are fragile: You have to acknowledge the fact that no matter how well built your laptop may seem but its essentially composed of a million micro components that can malfunction if you do not take proper care. Having said that, you shouldn’t really think they are actually so FRAGILE fragile, but in fact a well looked after laptop can last a couple of years without giving you any problems at all or even good 4-5 years even when used regularly.
Carrying your laptop: Laptops are meant to be ‘mobile’ and give you a great convenience and ease to be carried around easily. With the light-weight netbooks you can become even more productive as they hardly weigh anything. Invest in a good laptop case or padded sleeve as there will be plenty of moments when you’ll bank against the wall or bump in to another commuter while trying to catch you bus or train.
Protecting the keyboard: Keyboards and screens are the most common components that usually get ruined if you act carelessly and spill your drink or crumbs over. Always make sure you leave the laptop aside while having food. Also get a compressed air can and clean the keyboard every month or two to clear out any dust particles stuck between the keys.
Extending your laptop’s battery life: A major chunk of a laptop’s battery is consumed by the display screen, so when its not plugged-in, remember to reduce the screen brightness level. Anther common problem with batteries occur when you leave them plugged-in all the time, so always disconnect when fully charged and do not charge until more than half of the battery power has drained. Also exit unnecessary applications to reduce the load on processor, that also consumes power when kept running.
