Toshiba is amongst the long established technology specialists, founded by Hisashige Tanaka as Tanaka Engineering Works; Japan’s first manufacturer of telegraph equipment in 1875. The company went under many merger and acquisition deals and it was until 1978 that the company was officially renamed Toshiba Corporation.
