Dimensions and Weight
Measuring 9.65 (W) x 0.78(H) x 4.72(D) inches, it is literally the size of an office envelope and weighs just 1.4 lbs with the battery included. Slim ( 1 inch thick), sleek with a glossy but elegant exterior, the laptop can be carried in a purse or in the hand like a clutch bag and so is ultra portable and extremely easy carry to the extent that you might not remember even carrying it!
The screen
The Vaio P-series proudly owns an 8 inch ultra-wide LED-backlit screen that provides an exceptionally high pixel resolution of 1600×768 that is a beauty to look at. Probably those who like large text wouldn’t be that much impressed by this small size screen; however one can’t ignore the vibrant colours and brightness it displays that make watching movies or browsing, an ultimate pleasure!
Keyboard
Since the overall size of the laptop is reduced, one might get the idea that the keyboard would suffer the consequences. But Lifestyle PC is built so intelligently that full justice is done to the keyboard area. Keys are well positioned, evenly spaced out and smooth to touch. Typing on it is easy and you encounter less typo. The design is well suited for long fingernails; a plus point for girls! Instead of the track pad, a ThinkPad-like pointing stick is given which works fairly well. The mouse nub also becomes comfortable to work with after some time and is better in function than the Trackpad normally seen in notebooks.
Processor Performance
The high cost of the Sony Vaio P-series Lifestyle PC is well reasoned by the high quality infrastructure. It contains a Z series Intel atom, Processor with 2GB RAM (maximum capacity 4GB) and 60GB HDD. Robust and reliable in performance; now those who say that Sony is all into style and appearance only would keep their mouth shut! Though the speed may not be extraordinary, it runs smoothly without any choking starts and is proficient in multi tasking. This means chatting and browsing, doing your office work and simultaneously streaming videos or listening to music is easily possible.
Operating System and Softwares
Similar to other laptops, P-series also has a pre-Windows instant on operating system that shares the same Sony Xross Media Bar menu featured in the PlayStation 3. Through this Instant Mode you can have a fast and direct access to your mails, photos or to the web just with a single click. After the Windows are activated, the Vista version instead of the XP one takes up charge.
Another cool feature in the P-series notebooks is the Microsoft® Streets and Trips software that is extremely beneficial since the laptop is meant for commuters and those who are always on the go. Without requiring internet connections, this software help you track down a place via the GPS installed in it. All you have to do is get outdoors and type in your destination. As you move on the step-by-step directions appear on the detailed maps provided by the software. So, finding a new restaurant or someone’s house is now no problem at all.
Connectivity
Apart from the GPS, another amazing built-in feature is the 802.11n wireless LAN and Bluetooth® connections which provide durable and non-stop connectivity with easy management of WAN. A 3G Verizon Mobile Broadband Service allows you to get connected to your friends and family anywhere you go without the need of any wireless card.
