Researchers now reveal that there has been a sharp rise in the number of Smartphone shoppers in the UK.
According to the research firm comScore the growth of these numbers in the UK are better than any other European countries. When compared to last year there has been a 163% increase between May 2010 and May 2011. Another interesting find is that when compared to the growth in neighboring EU5 region the increase has been somewhat around 80%.
Jeremy Copp, comScore Europe vice president for mobile, said that the growth in mobile use of online retailers has been “largely driven by the acceleration in Smartphone ownership”.
They have also revealed that the Smartphone ownership has also played an important role in this regard and grew by 56%. The number of people who use their Smartphones to use auctions sites like eBay and other shopping guides is the most prominent user group.
This may also be due to the use of various free Apps being provided by online retailers and auction websites that people find handy to use. This new chage is a huge opportunity for business who have been proactive in this arena, whereas a threat to many who have not been able to adopt this channel.
