Samsung X120 Laptop Review – Windows 7 ULV Laptop

Written by Lee

Samsung X120 is a sleek and trendy laptop enfolded in an ultra light attractive casing, ideal for frequent travelers and home users. Samsung X120 notebook looks compact and stylish but when it comes to performance and versatility, Samsung X120 has given a real tough time to its rivals.

Some of the netbooks we previously covered in our reviews that include the CULV processors are Toshiba T130 Notebook, HP Pavilion DM1-1020EA Notebook and the Toshiba Satellite Flatiron T110-107

Processor and Operating System

The increased usage of computers in our daily lives has given a new direction to laptop manufacturers as what to create and what not. You don’t want any compromise on performance so Samsung launched X120 to bring more productivity and efficiency at your work. Equivalent to the power produced by two processors, Samsung X120 comes equipped with Ultra low voltage Intel Pentium Dual Core technology which is renowned for its energy efficiency and capability to handle all sorts of programs and applications. To speed up the overall processing, Samsung X120 comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 operating system and massive 3GB RAM.

Long Battery Life

When it comes to battery juice, Samsung X120 provides an extended battery life up to 6.5 hours which means you can have long working sessions without worrying for a back up battery. It’s not an easy task to achieve an outstanding battery life but Samsung has smartly used an energy efficient small screen and ultra-light processor to optimise battery performance.

Weight and Dimension

Classified as an ultra portable laptop, Samsung X120 is more like a netbook than a notebook. It hardly weighs 1.36kg with 25.4mm thickness which is simply fantastic to hold and carry whilst on the move. Being a slim line laptop, it can easily slip into your handbag but we don’t see any reason to hide this black beauty. Generally speaking, when we discuss laptops in general what comes to our mind is a large screen bulky machine with some extra weight and dimension. Fortunately, Samsung X120 laptop is neither heavy nor extra large in size and that makes it perfect for businessmen and laptop experts. You can also check some other popular light weight machines such as the Samsung N140, Sony Vaio VPCW12S1E/T and Advent Milano.

Display and Screen

Display-wise, Samsung X120 features an 11.6-inch LED screen which falls somewhere between a netbook and a notebook. With a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, you can watch movies, work on power point presentations and do much more on Samsung X102 laptop.

250GB Hard Disk and Webcam

Store tons of multimedia files and folders on the available 250GB hard disk which is perfect for a laptop of its class. Moreover, there is a webcam which comes fixed on the front screen panel for video messaging with friends and family.

The Bottom Line

Samsung X120 is a light-weight laptop with a miniature 11.6-inch screen which deliver sharper images, vibrant colours and brighter pictures. If you are looking for a Ultra low voltage Dual Core machine with ultra light weight and portability, then Samsung X120 is the right choice for you.

This device should provide adequate mobile computing for most users. Even though the smartphones are trying to muscle in on the action, the netbooks beat them by far when it comes to heavy computing usage on-the-go.
