There is no doubt that Lenovo has earned the respect of laptop fans by producing some of the highly trusted brands such as IBM and ever since it started to sell its laptops under its own brand ‘Lenovo’ the scenario has shifted a little bit, unfortunately on the negative side to be very honest.
This laptop is yet another attempt to undo the bad spell the brand is under but there are also some postive aspects that we must appreciate such as the sheer simplicity of this device which pretty much does everything an average user would expect.
Design: Exterior design is something Lenovo hardly pays any attention to, we have seen them launch 60 odd models in the last couple of years with the exact same styling and bulky looking outer shell. Despite the ugliness the shell is pretty thick and solid so it would last long enough for your money’s worth. The weight of the machine is clearly on the edge at 2.6Kg which just about makes it a handy laptop to be carried around.
Processor: The processor is somewhat a dissapointment as the Dual-core AMD E-350 processor is no match for an Intel i-3 processor which you can find a number of laptops within the same price range. This does not mean that the laptop is useless but it is also nothing that could impress your mates for having a second best substitue of a three year old technology. Besides the impressiveness score this laptop runs pretty smoothly on Windows 7 home premium which comes pre-installed on the system.
Memory and Hard Disk: The system RAM is rather generous when compared to other specs set at 4GBs but the downside is the scalability which is limited to 4GBs only. The LENOVO G575 sold in the UK has a common hard drive size of 750GB which is pretty decent for a laptop on the cheaper end of the market.
Lenovo claims that the G575 comes with a superior energy mangement peice of software which enhances the battey life but despite having an average processor (1.6Ghz) it only delivers 5 hours which we think is an okay score, nothing impressive.
There are no major issues with this laptop that should keep you from getting one apart from the fact that this laptop is pretty simple and ordinary and delivers everything one would expect from a budget machine.
