HP G62-b24SA Laptop Review

Written by Mark

The HP G62-b24SA is an excellent mid-range laptop with currently being sold at an amazing bargain price. The HP G62-b24SA is powerful, potable and stylish from every angle.

Editor’s Note

In our opinion this laptop truly justifies its price by having the necessary credentials and if you have been reading our rants about the lack of design in some of the recent HP laptops then you would know how happy it makes us to finally see something original and with much careful thought put in to designing the laptop.

You must have noticed by now, that while scrutinising a laptop we consider price the ultimate scale to measure everything inside a laptop shell. We think, there is no better way of calling something a ‘good deal’ or a ‘bad deal’ if we do not associate everything directly to the price and then try to reach a verdict.

We are highly impressed with the powerful features being offered at such a bargain price. If you find computer processors interesting then we hope you would what it meant to own a ‘P’ series processor just about a year back from now. These ‘P’ series processor were a thing of novelty, it meant serious business to own a ‘P’ series processor with an extra 3MB L2 Cache. Back then it was usually found in the premium laptop models, while the working class were making use of the Celeron and Atom processors, as price was a major issue. None of the ‘P’ series powered laptops were available under £800-£900, which is why we are absolutely delighted to finally see a cheap laptop having one.

We find the HP G62-b24SA, one such laptop that truly exceeded our expectations and yet being sold well under £450, we think it is one of the best laptop deals around. Where a number of laptops sold today with underpowered Celeron processors are still sold for around the £450 price mark we think the G62-b24SA is an amazing bargain.

Design

The build and size of this laptop is idea for a 15.6″ laptop with sleek dimension of Length: 246 mm
Width: 374 mm and Height: (min/max) 31.8 mm/ 36.8 mm and it weights only 2.2kgs despite having a 6 Cell li-ion battery which HP claims will deliver 6 hours. We think this laptop is pretty impressive in terms of how it looks and feels with its stylish white casing and black gloss around the screen area. Its not exactly a head turner but its rather more practical and simple. Most importantly it is a beautiful design you can expect in any budget laptop.

Processor and Operating System

We have no doubts that the Intel® Pentium® Processor P6100 is much more than powerful processor. It was introduced around late 2010 so the technology is fairly new that supports a number of bulit in multimedia features such as dual display, HD Graphics from its dual core architecture. It also makes a perfect combination with the pre-installed High-Definition LED HP BrightView Display.
