Dell Inspiron 11Z Laptop Review

The Dell Inspiron 11Z laptop is the latest from Dell with the new range of Intel Ultra low voltage Intel Celeron 723 1.2GHz processor. Dell has tried to differentiate this laptop by having some unusual choice of components such as the bigger screen size of 11.6 inches and by offering a superior processor.

Processor and Hard Disk

Dell has chosen to use the latest Intel Celeron 723 1.2GHz processor rather than Atom or Neo processors which have been the popular choice of processors amongst netbook brands. This processor according to Intel has more grunt and would deliver longer working hours by consuming less battery juice.

Design Build

In terms of the build quality this laptops looks pretty average with a cheap plastic feel to it yet the miniature dimensions make this laptop look quite slim and handy. This should not be a major factor and hindrance to our overall performance evaluation criteria.

Graphics and Display Specs

The 11.6″ 1024×600 screen display is an extension to usual netbook usability issues by Dell, the bigger screen provides ample display room as full-size laptops. The viewing angles on this screen are quite flexible but the colours look a bit faded when used outdoors.

Keyboard & Usability

The keyboard base seems quite sturdy bearing high pressure when pressed, without showing a sign of being flexed. The layout of the keyboard also seems pretty average with small set of keys knitted tightly, but the keys are quite responsive and allow faster typing.

Connectivity Other Extras

Another unusual feature is the HDMI in place of an older VGA port, which is handy for those who like to connect their laptops with their television. It includes all other essential connectivity bits such as the three USB ports, audio jacks, an SDHC-card slot, and LAN connector.

Verdict

We think this laptop is a nice looking laptop with average features and with its premium price tag of £370 upwards we think Dell is up against some fierce competition in the marketplace.
