I had my asus for nearly a year now. Never ever will get asus agaiN!!! 1st the keyboard buttons started to come off! Noticed they are only clipped. Now worst: The screen is going. The pixels started to show! if you take a look at the waranty book you can read about it. It looks like they know about this problem, but they asked me £170 to repair and was still under waranty! For me Asus is a joke!

I have this Asus X5DC & its the worst laptop i have ever bought, i wouldnt even recommend it for £200, as the Samsung Netbook is better value for money but if you want a proper laptop i would suggest a Toshiba/Acer as they know what users want & provide realiable laptops. If you've got money to waste then buy a Sony, but remember you are paying for the name only not durability

The battery crashed or failed in second month, I lost all my work. It crashes continuously if you happen to be multi-tasking. It's crap and I am not happy with this!

Right a few comments here that I need to straighten out for you folks. Firstly it is an Asus so quality is poor at best and secondly Asus do not own Dell and that would not have made it any better as Dell are as bad if not worse (35% failure rate and that is fact). Now I see someone asked if it is core 2 well in a sense it is but it is a Celeron so very slow and should never have paired this with Windows 7 or Vista for that matter. I work in the industry so I have a lot of experience with these things, now Asus are known for a problem with board failures and generally it is due to heat and hairline cracks appearing in the boards, that and the capacitors tend to bust or leak. Another thing is if you want their customer service good luck with that. Honestly if you are thinking about it save a little more and go for a Toshiba, Acer or Samsung. Sony are just OK but you are paying for the brand, most of their boards are actually Asus and or Foxconn and that is where they fail. Anywthing with a Seagate hard drive is also bound to have a failure on that part too.
