Asus N10 JC Netbook

Tailoring a whole new series of notebooks known as the ‘Corporate Netbook’, Asus N10 JC has made its grand entrance in the market as these laptops are specially designed for the business class. In the N10 series, you will encounter different configurations supporting different features and options but the standard functions of a netbook are the same.
Notebooks have become a necessity in today’s world. From students to officers, scientists to retailers, laptops have invaded each and every field to the point that you cannot live without one.
Exterior and build quality
Better in its paint scheme and chrome design, the N 10 JC is superior to other netbooks. The gold paint and chrome plan makes the netbook look acceptable and friendly which is rarely seen in the laptops today. Slimmer and sleeker than Eee PC 1000HA, it has a unique appearance. The 11.1v 4800mAh 53Wh 6-cell battery sticking out of the laptop may be an unusual sight for some people but it’s certainly not unpleasant.
Weighing up to 1.4kg (including the 3 battery cells), Asus N10 JC has a dimension of 27.6x 19.5x 3.71 cm and the keyboard size of 26.3mm. Though the keyboard offers a comfortable typing surface, the changed positions of some of the keys makes it confusing and some times irritating for the user to type on it and some of the customers might not like the sharp edge key design in contrast to the rounder edges provided in Eee1000HA. However, these minor things do not overshadow the plus points of the device.
Keyboard
And as for the Synaptic- based Touch pad, happily no negative aspects found here. Something that you will appreciate is the large area given to the pad so that you can easily move about the screen without having to lift your fingers for back tracking. Glossy and same coloured as that of the netbook shell, it has buttons that can be easily depressed with a small pressure. There is a finger print scanner located between the touch pad buttons that can give accurate readings after a little practice since the scanning results depend upon how deeply you dig in your fingers into the scanner.
Processor performance
With a mighty price of $649 USD, one would inquire about the performance. With the Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor and a specified graphic card of NVIDIA 9300M, the netbook is capable of decoding 720p movies in such a limited package with a HDMI out. However the processor is quiet slow at decoding high definitions HD movies having a frame rate of only 10-15 fps. The special dedicated graphics also are useless in speeding up the overall processing both in gaming and video playback.
Connectivity and multimedia
As for the ports and slots, the N10 JC has 3 USB ports, LAN insert, HDMI port, 1 x VGA port/Mini D-sub 15-pin for external monitor, 1 jack for microphone and one for headphones , etc. it also offers an optional 1.3 mega Pixel web camera so you can also shoot pictures and snaps and a built-in Blue Tooth device so you can share it with others then and there.
Operating System
The netbook supports Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic and Genuine Windows® XP Home operating systems. Moreover, the netbook allows memory expansion of up to 1GB SDRAM. All in all, ASUS N10 JC is a compact laptop with the all basic features that one would require while at work or at leisure.
