Asus Eee PC 901 Netbook Review – Deals and Specs

Asus Eee PC 901 is portable, it’s easy to operate, it’s affordable and comes in funky colours. It’s Asus Eee PC 901; the latest in the “Easy to learn, work and play” series. Cool and chunky, small and smart; Asus Eee 901 is better than its ancestors.

Style with caution

Eee PC 901 has been launched in eight different custom styles designed with a cutting-edge Infusion casing technology which makes the machinery tough and sturdy and adds a little flexibility to the chasis to make it more durable. Available in eight unique yet vibrant colours; Sakura, Sweet Pea, Urban Metropolis, Peony White, Pearl White, Fine Ebony, Navy Blue and Chocolate Gold, the netbook is bound to make other laptops look dull and boring in front of it! A smooth, rounded and glossed up chassis further adds up to its beauty and style; you will simply love it.

Keys and Buttons

No matter, how attractive it may look, at the end of the day, if you can’t work on the notebook conveniently; it’s not even worth a glance! Asus Eee PC 901 has scored mixed remarks in this area. Where the keyboard is the same cramped entity as was found in Eee 900, an improved MacBook- inspired multi touch track pad lightens up some of the burden. The track pad is spacious and the keys are firm and responsive. Some may find them a bit noisy, but we liked the sound of it.

It has a multi-touch FingerGlide feature, using which, one can simply zoom-in or zoom-out an image by simple bringing your fingers close and departing them respectively. This may give some problem while swiping through pictures or moving forward or backward while web browsing. The mouse buttons are now categorized to left and right one for the respective clicking functions.

Processor Performance

Asus Eee PC 901 is the first in this series to have an Intel Atom processor incorporated. Making your life easier, the processor ensures an economical yet efficient operation as you browse the net, watch movies, play games, listen to music and much more. At a standard speed of 1.6GHz, 512KB of L2 cache and a 533MHz front side bus, the Atom processor is a cool and calm machine having a thermal power consumption of just 2.5W when active while when at rest, its hardly 30mW and close to silent. It performas at a par with Celeron- powered Eee PC 900 but efficiency is many times higher. Also, here it’s provided with a petite air vent contrasting the older version.

Har Disk

Exclusively incorporated in the Eee 901 is the enormous 29GB storage with an additional 5GB Download permitted per day both from the Windows and GNU Linux OS platforms giving easy access. The NAND Flash is used for storage other than a mechanical drive which reduces the machine mobility and heat generation.

Battery Life

Thanks to the Super Hybrid Engine exclusive to the Asus Eee series, the battery life has been enhanced to as long as 8 hours; ideal for journeys and in situations when charging is not possible. Watching movies, browsing, chatting and downloading is a lot easier and more fun than before.

Durable, Reliable and Cheap

A Solid State Drive is incorporated in the system which is shock proof and consumes less power. Despite its small size, the operation is fast and the machine is robust and durable. You can easily use it out doors without the issue of scratching and marking the case or worrying about the battery life. All this is given at an amazingly humble price of around £325 which in our opinion is not bad at all provided all the facilities its offering.

High Speed Connectivity

Now with Wi-Fi 802.11n, you can connect to the rest of the world in no time. There is an efficient communication feature Eee Connect that allows two or more users to chat through a remote desktop feature permitting trouble-free access. A built-in Blue tooth option makes transferring of data from one user to another or to another device simple and effortless.
