Advent Quantum Q200

Written by Lee

If you seek portability with style, then consider getting yourself the latest Advent Quantum Q200 Laptop which has everything you can expect from a great ultra-portable laptop. There are a few positive changes made to this laptop that shows how Advent is adopting to the changing customer needs.

You will notice the laptop has a 13.3 inch LCD display, despite keeping it an ultra-portable device that weighs under 1.99kgs, which in our opinion is a phenomenal feat achieved by Advent, still keeping the price low. Another refreshing addition to this laptop is the latest Intel D425 Processor, which is the latest breed of processors unleashed by Intel for netbooks and mini laptops. The new Atom D425 processor is much faster than the predecessors N270 or N280 and delivers and impressive 1.8GHz of processing speed. The inclusion of hyper-threading and integrated graphics support makes it work more efficiently, while consuming less battery power. All in all, we think the Quantum Q200 is one of the best value laptop deals available today for portability seekers.

Suitability

The feature set on this laptop clearly indicate that its best suited to individuals who happen to admire ultra-light machines, or frequent travellers.

Design

In terms of the design its quite simple and elegant, but with the inclusion of a bigger 13.3 inch screen, Advent has manged to include a much bigger keyboard.

Processor RAM & Hard Disk

The Atom D425 Processor has enough oomph and speed to deliver all your everyday computing tasks efficiently, from surfing the net to producing document and working on light graphic software.

Multimedia

The Qantum Q200 being a budget portable laptop does not offer any high-end multimedia apart from its impressive 13.3″ screen supported by the Intel GMA3150 integrated graphics to make your movie watching and game playing experience more fun.

Connectivity

It also has a complete set of standard connectivity options, see ‘specs section’ below for more details.

Bottom Line

We think apart from a slight lacking in the battery area, which lasts for 3 hours, we think the Quantum Q200 is still an amazing bargain laptop deal.

I wanted a basic computer , ie internet , dvd /cd rom for software , and value for money . The advent ticks all the boxes . I have purchased expensive lap tops before and found I don’t use all the features. Also found the life span on well known makes have been pretty short . If you are not into serious gaming or want to store large amounts of data and not bothered with a tad tiny sceen and low bat life , the advert is an ideal purchase . I am a professional IT woman and what is the point paying out for a Merc or BMW when simply you want to go to the local shops !!! jo

Hi, I think this little laptop is an excellent value for money laptop that does exactly what it says on the box! I have had this laptop for less than a week and it has already proved itself invaluable for my business, The only thing that I cannot find out is what its maximum memory that can be installed as well as the 2GB already installed if anyone can help!
I was on a tight budget when buying this for my business but other than the battery power being limited I would give it a high 9 out of 10 and would certainly recommend it for a small business or colledge students and even the beginner as an introductory laptop, This will cover all this as well as more

I am considering buying this laptop as it is exactly what I require. However, I have a problem with the above review. Terry Kelly; please review your comments before posting. Your overuse of exclamation marks and poor sentence structure make me want to put pins in my eye. I only have one left a I recently read a similar review.
