A large number of viruses spread through USB Devices

According to PandaLabs research division 1 in 4 worms spread through USB devices. Its extremely important for us to take care while using other people’s computers or USB devices. Its a common practice for most of us to carry USB storage devices, as they offer a great ease and convenience to keep our frequently needed data handy, but we must also take special care and perform scans after using the device on other people’s computers.
These viral attacks has become so common and out of control that even the US Military is having problems to tackle this issue. One of the most famous worm attacks that used the USB vector to spread is the Conflicker worm that crippled many major networks two years ago.
It is surprising that Microsoft Windows or other common operating systems have not taken this issue seriously. However, to keep our systems running smoothly we highly recommend you to use a trusted anti-virus software that performs a check every time you plug-in a USB device.
The best thing to prevent virus attacks is to control the auto-run devices that you frequently use and perform regular scanning sessions. The good thing with Windows is that it asks you what to do when you insert a USB device which has an auto-run feature.
